Nucleotide sequence of the L-arabinose regulatory region of Escherichia coli K12.

چکیده
The nucleotide sequence of a 250-base pair segment of L-arabinose operon DNA containing the 150-base pair regulatory region has been determined. This segment includes the promoter for rightward araBAD transcription, pBAD, the promoter for leftward araC transcription, pC, and sites responsible for repression.

Nucleotide sequence and analysis of the purA gene encoding adenylosuccinate synthetase of Escherichia coli K12.
Adenylosuccinate synthetase (EC 6.3.4.4), encoded by the purA gene of Escherichia coli K12, catalyzes the synthesis of adenylosuccinate (SAMP) from IMP, the first committed step in AMP biosynthesis. The E. coli K12 purA gene and flanking DNA was cloned by miniMu-mediated transduction, and the nucleotide sequence was determined. The mature SAMP synthetase subunit, as deduced from the DNA sequenc...
متن کاملCharacterization and nucleotide sequence of the cryptic cel operon of Escherichia coli K12.
Wild-type Escherichia coli are not able to utilize beta-glucoside sugars because the genes for utilization of these sugars are cryptic. Spontaneous mutations in the cel operon allow its expression and enable the organism to ferment cellobiose, arbutin and salicin. In this report we describe the structure and nucleotide sequence of the cel operon. The cel operon consists of five genes: celA, who...
متن کاملBioinformatic Analysis of L-Asparaginase II from Citrobacter Freundii 1101, Erwinia Chrysanthemi DSM 4610, E. coli BL21 and Klebsiella Pneumoniae ATCC 10031
Backgroung and Aims: L-Asparaginase II is a cornerstone of treatment protocols for acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Only asparaginase II obtained from E. coli K12 and Erwinia chrysanthemi have been used in human as therapeutic drug. The therapeutic effects of asparaginase II from E. coli K12 and Erwinia chrysanthemi is accompanied by side effects. It is desirable to search for other asparaginase I...
متن کاملMapping, sequence, and apparent lack of function of araJ, a gene of the Escherichia coli arabinose regulon.
We report the mapping, sequencing, and study of the physiological role of the fourth arabinose-inducible operon from Escherichia coli, araJ. It is located at 9 min on the chromosome and codes for a single 42-kDa protein that shows no significant homology to other known proteins. Destruction of the chromosomal araJ gene does not detectably affect either of the two arabinose transport systems, th...
